Course Description
This beginning level course will allow individuals new to supervision to become familiar with the purpose and process of clinical supervision. This 6-hour training meets the training requirements set by the WV Board of Social Work for Clinical Social Workers to be qualified to provide clinical supervision.
Objectives
Participants will:
- Appreciate the importance of supervision in mentoring new practitioners
- Compare and contrast the various models of supervision
- Differentiate between supervision, consultation and therapy
- Understand the regulations of the West Virginia Board of Social Work Examiners regarding licensure and supervision
- Identify the qualities and skills of the supervisor that promote effective supervision
- Identify the learning style of the supervisee
- Understand the competencies underlying clinical supervision
- Review the ethical and legal considerations involved in supervision
