Community Change and the Black Freedom Collective welcome you to the annual Taking Power Summit on Tuesday, August 24 and 25, 2021. This year’s theme is around the resilience of Black people in America during the pandemic. The two-day Summit will offer a space to lean into salient issues Black people are facing like the job crisis, a night of action, and provide trainings for Black organizers.
The summit will kick off on Day 1 August 24 with a “Black Jobs & Economic Panel” that explores how the economic situation of Black communities has been exacerbated by the pandemic. Moderating the conversation will be Solana Rice from Liberation Generation joined by panelists Kyle Moore of Econmic Policy Institute and Jessica Fulton of Joint Center.

Day 1 will end with a Black night of national action with BFC partners, organizers, and leaders leading house meetings and teach-ins on key issues that impact Black communities.

On Day 2, August 25, we will host the F.U.L.L. Unconference, which will offer a series of participant-driven workshops and ideation sessions curated by Black organizers and leaders. Workshop topics will include organizational development, base building; fundraising; healing justice; policy and advocacy; and communications.
